St. Clair College is excited to announce that they have been approved by the OCAA to host the 2015 Men’s Volleyball Provincial Championships. The OCAA approved St. Clair's bid nomination at its recent Annual Meetings in Sudbury last week.
As result the St. Clair College Men’s Volleyball team will receive automatic entry for the 2015 Provincials to be played February 27-March 1, 2015 at the nearly completed campus SportsPlex. The 8-team bracket will feature the top men’s volleyball teams from across Ontario. The top two teams from this event will qualify for the CCAA Nationals at Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI as the OCAA has two spots guaranteed.
The Saints men’s volleyball team qualified for the playoffs this past season with a record of 10-8 under the direction of 6th year Head Coach Rob Lynch. The Saints are expecting back a great core group from last year’s squad including OCAA All-Stars Jason Hernandez and Travis Wigle. Coach Lynch has been busy recruiting with several key top players in the process of registering and committing to St. Clair for next season.
Coach Lynch stated, “Hosting this championship gives our program the shot in the arm it deserves. We have built a new facility and a new attitude for St. Clair Athletics. Windsor and the province will see that St. Clair belongs in the forefront of college sports.”
Athletic Coordinator Jay Shewfelt quoted “We are extremely proud to bring this Provincial Tournament to the campus of St. Clair College. The new SportsPlex will be an incredible venue for the Championship and we cannot wait to show it off to the top volleyball programs in Ontario.”
