St. Clair College Saints Men’s Basketball Announces New Assistant Coach

The St. Clair College Men’s Basketball program is pleased to welcome Mark Paterson as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.  Paterson is a local basketball product and played for renowned high school coach Gerry Brumpton at W.D. Lowe before continuing his career at the post secondary level with 4 seasons of play at the University of Windsor while he earned his Bachelor of Commerce, Honours Business Administration before completing his Bachelor of Education. Since 2007 he has been teaching locally at the elementary school level. 

Paterson began coaching basketball in 1995 when he was a counselor with the St. Clair College Summer Camp.  He continued with Assumption College High School in 2002 for a pair of seasons helping guide them to the SWOSSAA ‘AA’ Championship.  Paterson then moved over to John L. Forster High School in 2004 accomplishing 3 more SWOSSAA ‘AA’ Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009.  In addition, he has been involved with Basketball Ontario’s Elite Development Program working both boys and girls at the MDP and JDP levels. 

St. Clair Head Coach Matt Devin welcomes the assistance of Paterson saying, "Mark has a great passion for the game and is very knowledgeable coach.  Having played at a high level, as well as being a coach in the area for several years, Mark will add tremendous value to our team.  We look forward to having him as part of our staff."  Paterson joins current Men’s Basketball Assistant Aleks Stulic.
