Women's Volleyball Sign Five Top Recruits

April 18, 2019 (Windsor, ON) The St. Clair College Department of Athletics and women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce the signing of five top recruits for the 2019-20 season. The women that will be joining the program are Baylee Mailloux, Keyome Ellis, Chantal DeVlugt, Lia DeGiroamo, and Caroline Klich.

Baylee Mailloux hails from Belle River, Ontario where she attended St. Anne's Secondary School. Baylee also plays for the South County Bandits. The 5'8” outside hitter will be enrolling in the new Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts in Social Justice and Legal Issues four year degree program.  Mailloux was named the MVP of her club team in 2018 and helped lead St. Anne’s to AAA OFSAA in 2018. "I'm most looking forward to the opportunity to continuing playing volleyball and receiving a degree from St. Clair College at the same time. I'm excited about the opportunity for personal growth and learning new things that will help me in the future," stated Mailloux.

Keyome Ellis is from Scarborough, Ontario where she attended Jean Vanier Catholic Secondary School. She also plays for Leaside Volleyball Club. Keyome is a 5'11” Middle Blocker who will be taking the three year Child & Youth Care Program. Ellis was named the MVP of her high school volleyball team in 2018 where she led her team to OFSAA. She also earned a Bronze Medal at the club provincial championships in 2018 as a 17U athlete and also went on to earn a bronze medal at the 2018 national championships as a 17U athlete. Keyome is excited to come to St. Clair.  "My experience visiting colleges and universities led me to St. Clair College. When attending a training camp, my interactions with the team along with the coaching staff was amazing! The entire team was very kind and welcoming, and Coach El-Turk seemed to be a very dedicated coach who looks to better you on and off the court. I believe St. Clair College is the best place for me because it will give me the opportunity to grow as a player as well as help me to become successful in my future career"

Chantal DeVlugt is from Wyoming, Ontario where she attends Lambton Central Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCCVI). The 6’0” outside hitter also plays for Sarnia Twin Bridges Volleyball Club. Chantal will be taking the three year Architectural Technology program. DeVlugt was named the MVP for her high school volleyball team in grades 10, 11, and 12.  "I am very excited to play volleyball at such a high and competitive level with such a respected coach and supportive teammates. St. Clair feels like the perfect fit for me and I can't wait to get there and start the season," said Chantal after committing.

Lia DeGirolamo is a native of Newmarket, Ontario. She is finishing up her high school career at Sir William Mulock Secondary School and will be taking the three year Business Administration Marketing program at St. Clair. The 5'7" Libero also competes for the Storm Volleyball Club. Lia feels St. Clair is the perfect fit for her.  "The combination of academics and volleyball with the comfort of having a welcoming group of girls to call my teammates for the next three years has me very excited to become a Saint next fall."

Caroline Klich is from Toronto, Ontario. She attends Silverthorn Collegiate Institute and also plays for the Waves Volleyball Club. The 6' Middle Blocker will be enrolled in the Interior Design Program.  "I am extremely excited to start a new chapter of my life with an amazing team. I'm ready to work hard to succeed in the game I love,” stated Klich after signing with the Saints.

St. Clair head coach Jimmy El-Turk is looking forward to adding these five players to the team next year. "We are very excited to be adding Baylee, Keyome, Chantal, Lia, and Caroline to our roster for 2019-2020. Not only do we feel like we are adding quality athletes but more importantly, we feel like we are adding five quality people to our dressing room and culture. Their combination of size, skill, and character are what our staff is most excited about. “

St. Clair finished the 2018-19 regular season with a record of 15-3 in the OCAA West Division ending up in 2nd place.  The Saints were ranked as high as 9th in Canada during the season
