Men’s Baseball Go for Perfect in Final Weekend of Season

Tecumseh, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Baseball team will start their Thanksgiving Weekend with a pair of doubleheaders at Lacasse Park in a bid for OCAA regular season perfection.  The Saints (14-0) host Seneca Polytechnic (North York) Friday at 5:00/7:30pm setting up the final day of the season on Saturday against Humber Polytechnic (Etobicoke) at 1:00/3:00pm.  Seneca has a 6-7 record while Humber is 11-3 on the season. 

St. Clair possess the two most dominant pitchers in the league as Brock Whitson (Chatham, ON) and Brady Knelsen (Leamington, ON/Leamington) both have a 5-0 record and share the OCAA lead in strikeouts with 41.  Knelsen has an OCAA best 0.25 ERA in 28.0 IP with two complete game performances while Whitson owns a 1.15 ERA over 30.1 IP with four complete games.  Outfielder Andrew Sleiman (Leamington, ON/Cardinal Carter) owns the top batting average in the OCAA at .520 for the Saints.  St. Clair catcher Henry Real (Panama City, Panama) is batting .375 and will have four games this weekend to see if can set a new OCAA record for career hits as he sits at 86 which is four shy of the mark held by former Saint Kevin Dion. 

Saturday's doubleheader against Humber will be Free Admission as part of Alumni Day which is being sponsored jointly by the St. Clair Alumni Association and St. Clair College.  The Saints Student Athletic Association Inc. is providing Fan Appreciation in the form of a Free Hot Dog for St. Clair Students and the first 75 patrons will receive a complimentary SSAA Touque.  A ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Chief of Essex-Windsor EMS Justin Lammers who is a graduate of the St. Clair's Paramedic Program and was recognized as an Alumni of Distinction in 2019. 

The Saints will also be wearing t-shirts in warmups to recognize the Uncle Jacks Baseball program which was founded by Kevin Paradis and BJ Richardson providing free baseball training to kids in Essex County. It was founded in memory of Jacques Paradis and operates on sponsorships and donations with no cost to families and all instructors are volunteers.  Prior to game one the St. Clair Alumni Association will be presenting a cheque to support the Uncle Jacks Baseball program.
