Men’s Basketball 8-0 After Topping Niagara

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team moved to 8-0 after topping Niagara College (Welland) by a score of 102-70 Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex.  The Saints used outstanding bookend performances in the win to remain undefeated in 1st Place of the OCAA's West Division.

St. Clair shot the ball extremely well (13-of-20, 65%) to open the game including 75% from distance to take a 31-11 lead after the first quarter.  The teams played even in the second and the Saints were comfortably ahead 52-32 by the intermission.  Niagara won the third quarter (23-19), but St. Clair matched their point output of the first quarter (31) in the fourth to record the victory. 

The Saints shot 60% in the opening and closing quarters combined finishing over 51% for the game from the floor but were a torrid 52% from distance logging 14 triples go with a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe.  St. Clair outrebounded Niagara 42-34 and outscored them 44-26 in the paint as well as 36-15 off the bench. 

Jacob Masters (Toronto, ON) had a fine game for the Saints with a game high 24 points including five makes from 3-point land while providing 3 assists for his teammates.  Galdo Tutu (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) came off the bench to score 18 points but added 10 rebounds in the double-double performance for St. Clair.  Kyle Brown-Fazekas (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) netted 14 points and pulled down 5 rebounds while Amari Frye (Ypsilanti, MI) chipped in with 13 points to go with 5 assists for the Saints.  Mazin Tiea (Windsor, ON/Kennedy) threw a block party swatting away 7 shots which controlled the area around St. Clair's basket adding 7 rebounds and 8 points.

St. Clair will finish the first half of their schedule in the GTA next weekend with a showdown at undefeated Humber College (Etobicoke) on Saturday followed by a matchup with 3rd Place Sheridan College (Brampton) on Sunday.
