Two Saints Named OCAA Women’s Basketball All-Stars

Welland, ON – Two St. Clair Women's Basketball players were named OCAA West Division All-Stars at the Championship Banquet held Thursday night at the Holiday Inn and Suites Parkway Conference Centre in St. Catharines.  The event is part of the OCAA Championship tournament being hosted this weekend by Niagara College in Welland. 

5'6" transfer guard Alyssa Lucier (Wallaceburg, ON) who had not played post-secondary basketball since the 2015-16 season with the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg) was voted a West Divisional First-Team All-Star after finishing 10th in OCAA scoring with a 14.9 points per game average while adding a 5.2 rebounds per contest.  Lucier's strong season included a 40-point game at #5 Humber on November 19th which ranks 2nd all-time in St. Clair history behind OCAA Hall of Famer Debbie Cowgill who holds the Saints record having scored 52 points in January of the 1979-80 season. 

2nd year 5'2" point guard Shae-lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) was also recognized as a West Division Second-Team All-Star after leading the Saints in scoring (15.2 ppg, OCAA 8th), assists (3.7 per game, OCAA 7th) and steals (2.4 per game, OCAA 15th).  Murphy also led the province in 3-point makes with 45 on the season to go with a 5.8 rebounds per game average. 

The Saints have a quarter-final match-up with first place Lambton College (Sarnia) on Friday which tips at 8:00pm.
